My work explores the subconscious mind and it’s relationship to the conscious mind. The work explores two different intents:
Through removing space and fully consuming what remains, part of the work focuses on that subconscious feeling of being trapped. Trapped in a sense that we are stuck in a predetermined path designed for us by society based on stereotypes.
Through the distortion of features, my figures and portraits focus on making the subconscious visible. By adding and removing features, the subconscious feelings behind the work can be viewed through an “unfiltered” mask.
The work explores the development of ideas and thoughts, emotions, and that which you can’t see, and bringing them forward into a more conscious state.
